How did you get started?
Being Type 1 diabetic I was prone to dry skin and was unimpressed by mass produced detergent soap bars. I was on a mission to make mild yet fun and indulgent products for myself and family. It just progressively bloomed from there. Also my love for the earth’s wellbeing was a major factor in why I wanted to produce products that were more ecologically sound and safe.
How do you get the word out about your shop?
Mostly blogs/magazines/newspapers/word of mouth.
What’s your creative process?
I strive to find the beauty of color and luxury in a bar of soap. I tend to use the more exotic sheep’s milk in a lot of my bars as it’s SO deliciously creamy and adds so much more to the silkiness of the soap. Tussah silk adds wonderful amino acids to the bars also and I use it in every batch of soap I make. The great thing about Tussah silk is that no silk worms are ever destroyed to gather this silk!! I LOVE to experiment with colors and swirls and no two bars of our soap are identical.
What’s unique about your items?
The most unique ingredient in some of my line is the sheep’s milk. It is VERY rare in soap, and only a select few soap makers use it. It has the highest milk fat content of all the milks which lends itself to the richest/creamiest lather. Milk also as you know is very good for the skin.
Anything else you’d like us to know?
If you’ve never used a bar of handmade soap or a jar of handmade lotion or cream, I highly recommend asking anyone who has! The difference in a completely handmade product will exceed your expectations tenfold for the qualities they lend to the appearance and feeling of your skin, and your wellbeing. The choices of fragrances and additives are as endless as your imagination. Once you go “handmade”, you’ll never go back!

soap is an amazing thing to make to me.
This is my first visit to man made – what a great idea for a website. I’m definitely bookmarking your site… guys are so hard to shop for, especially when you want to buy handmade, it’s great to find so much stuff profiled in one place. It might be nice to see an estymini of your guy stuff faves? Or a page where I can go and at a glance see pics all the products you’ve profiled which I can then click on if I want the full profile? That would be great.
Guys are hard to shop for! They generally only want really expensive electronics! And let’s just be realistic. You aren’t getting a new video games system for Valentine’s day.. This soap is great. I think even my grouchy young hubby would appreciate this!
lots of great scents I would love to try… the Cheeky looks interesting, and there are several others that look like they would smell great. I like the fact that they also do “manly” scents as my hubby might like the smell of a mango on me, but doesn’t want to be smelling like one himself! So kudos to them for that great option!
